Hey Sol,

Give it a go, best bet is to start out with a canoeing local club.

Starting out should be on calm water with someone experienced to help you and is nothing to be afraid of. Kayaking is a great sport to get into and once you’ve got the basics learnt you can pick and choose what area you like the look of.

There are many different disciplines of paddling to get into, from flatwater touring, paddling easy rivers to sea kayaking to waterfalls all the way to what I do whitewater freestyle. It’s anything from very safe & relaxing to complete crazyness depending on what appeals.

I have never actually tried Kayaking for the main reason that I’m afraid. There might be accidents that will happen. Anyway, I’m still considering and mustering up the courage to try because my friends are always coaxing me to go.
